ONCE upon a time, my brother, there was a townsman who was acquainted with a countryman. Whenever the countryman came· to town he always pitched his tent in the street of that townsman; he would be his guest for two months or three, constantly in his shop and at his table. Whatever he needed during that time the townsman would furnish him with free of charge.
