ABSTRACT

The Prophet said that in every bazaar two angels ever stand, offering up this prayer: '0 God, accord to the prodigal a good return, and 0 God, accord to the miserly ruin.' Especially does this apply to the man who has been prodigal with his life, offering his own throat as a sacrifice to the Creator; he has offered his throat to the knife like Ishmael, but the knife proves ineffectual against his throat. For this reason the martyrs live in felicity: regard not like an infidel the body only, for God has accorded them in return life everlasting, life secure from all sorrow and suffering and misery.
