ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the main legal rules governing leaving care will be discussed in relation to children, the mentally disordered and the elderly. Since powers to detain a person in care are a con siderable infringement of an individual’s personal freedom, it is important that the law in this respect should be carefully observed so as to avoid either wrongful or unnecessary detention.
