Many people have questioned the role of assessment within creative activities such as drama. We have firmly concluded that not to assess and record pupils' considerable achievements in the creative domain is to fail the children. If we do not assess we are not properly reflecting what they are and what they can become. We must assess and evaluate what we do and what they do in drama, at the very least in order to be able to plan further for progression and development of the work. It is only a short step further to record and therefore to be in a position to report so that children and parents can understand what they have achieved.
