ABSTRACT

The chapter pulls together the main elements of the book and looks to emphasise the main themes of the book – recognising that inventory is something that connects everyone in the organisation and that paying attention to detail can, and will, help an organisation develop a much better understanding of their processes whilst improving control at the same time. New approaches have been devised with a purchasing strategy designed to directly connect to an organisation’s overall strategy, channel gap analysis, the error containment ring and tools alluded to such as project data analysis. Improvement and change will take time, but the goal is worth it – competitive advantage delivered by inventory management.
