ABSTRACT
Consider a public television station. While the station receives some money from the government, the bulk of its funding comes from private donations, and as such, viewer contribution is crucial to the station’s continued existence. However, it would be almost impossible for the station to prevent a noncontributor from watching its programs. From the individual viewer’s standpoint, the question becomes, “Should I send money to the station when my contribution is not necessary for me to enjoy its product?”
