ABSTRACT

IS THE AVERAGE MAN today still a naive realist? Does he still see the sun rise and traverse an are around the earth? Do what his senses present to him seem the same after he has learned about the infinities of space and microorganisms? We telescope so much of our experience today. The earth really does seem smaller and older than it used to. The whole cosmos taken as a single packet may be compressed by our minds to postage stamp size, and that blown up. The ancient notion that macrocosm and microcosm reflect one another has been made more precise by modern sciencc.
