ABSTRACT

As the third most abundant element in the earth’s crust, after oxygen and silicon, aluminium can justifiably be called one of the world’s least scarce resources. It is also one of the easiest to recycle; used aluminium may be reconverted into high-quality metal in a very cost-effective operation. This combination of advantages is one of the reasons why aluminium is becoming regarded as a ‘green’ material, friendly to the environment and the people in it.
