ABSTRACT
When US Secretary of State Madeline Albright visited the Czech Republic in July 1997, she first repaired her lapsed awareness of her Jewish ancestry by visiting the Prague Jewish Cemetery and the synagogue bearing her grandparents’ names on the Holocaust death-list. She then received the nation’s highest reward from Václav Havel, president of the republic.
