It comes from the head teacher of a junior mixed school and is dated July 9th, 1942. “Let me explain”, he writes to his fellow-teachers, “that you don’t count at all, that your children don’t either, until they have attained their years of discretion—11+—by which time they will go somewhere else for the honours.
