ABSTRACT
The book has examined the connections between local and wider political processes though a study of a housing renewal project. The examples of policy conflict within the CEI were analysed to provide a contemporary setting in which to explore the dynamic aspects of policy change and the impact of both central and local policy initiatives on housing practice. This concluding chapter brings together the main arguments in the light of the research, discusses the insights derived from the theoretical framework and shows how the CEI study has advanced an understanding of recent housing renewal processes around the key themes set out in the introduction: central-local government relations; organisational interaction and housing practice. Finally it identifies some of the new research issues that ensue from the recent policy innovations announced by the Labour government.
