ABSTRACT
Apart from the activities of the Sports Associations in each country, it is to America we must look for the first sign of a public movement for the establishment of municipal play-grounds and other play facilities, although the inspiration of the movement may be traced to Berlin, where public sand-piles were a feature of the parks some time before they were introduced into America and England.
