Effective test-taking strategies do not only involve what you do during the actual exam. Importantly, make sure you get enough sleep throughout the semester but also on the night before the exam. In Chapter 6, we discussed that during sleep, the brain solidifies and enhances learning, and therefore, sacrificing sleep will backfire (Gillen-O’Neal, Hyunh, & Fuligni, 2013). In addition, sleep deprivation decreases your ability to concentrate (Brown, 2017).
