ABSTRACT

In 2014, the US District Court-appointed Transitional Administrator (TA) Earl Dunlap asked his consulting team to review the recidivism reduction findings emerging from reports, research papers, and recent publications from the Crime Lab at the University of Chicago. Dunlap’s team analyzed the various applications of automaticity and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that could strengthen the positive life outcomes of the youth detained in the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC).
