ABSTRACT

REPORTS having been propagated with great zeal and diligence, and assertions directly made, that the GENERAL-COMMITTEE or their SUB-COMMITTEE have held communication with the insurgents commonly called “Defenders,” and supplied them with money;1 and it being insinuated that a collection lately instituted, for the purpose of defraying the expences incurred by the Committee in the pursuit of Catholic emancipation, was intended to be, in part, applied to the support of the said insurgents; it becomes the duty of the Sub-Committee, whatever reluctance they may, at this time, feel at obtruding themselves on public notice, to submit to the nation a plain statement of facts as they really are.
