ABSTRACT
First published in The Examiner, V, 1812. From 1808–12, Hunt regularly composed a Preface at the end of each year and placed it, without date or pagination, at the start of each yearly volume of The Examiner (see Preface for 1808, above, pp. 79–82). Although Hunt continued to publish the occasional postscript, retrospect, and prospectus (see the 1814 ‘New Prospectus of the Examiner’, pp. 819–20, and below, pp. 337–41), he dropped the inclusion of Prefaces after 1812.
