ABSTRACT
This chapter covers the period after the death of her first husband, her active social circle, the beginnings of her correspondence with Americans involved in the controversies with the British administration that resulted in the Declaration of Independence, her first political pamphlets discussing Hobbes and a constitution for Corsica, and the analysis and reception of the next two volumes of her major history.
