ABSTRACT
Five years elapsed between the publication of Ideas Have Consequences and Weaver’s next book, The Ethics of Rhetoric. Ideas brought Weaver some fame; as a result, speaking engagements and other activities gave him problems with finding time to write. 1 Still, Weaver continued to contribute reviews to Commonweal, Sewanee Review, Georgia Review, and other publications. He also wrote essays on rhetoric for such scholarly journals as College English and the Journal of General Education.
