ABSTRACT
Satellite systems and applications have developed in a relatively short time under the influence of such factors as technological innovation, cost advantages, and the needs of users. A knowledge of some of the more important aspects of satellite systems and their applications is thus an essential background to an understanding of the impact of domestic and international policy-making on future uses of satellite communications.
