ABSTRACT
In this chapter we move to states subject to higher levels of colonialism: those dominated by invading whites; and the most colonial regions of the country, involving slavery and the highest levels of intergroup conflict. In their case, most, if not all, of the features of colonialism are present, resulting in more problematic kinds of intergroup relations. We begin with states settled and largely dominated by white majorities.
