ABSTRACT

Unlike EW, intended for employment during hostilities, the radioelectronic struggle goes on in peacetime, too. The peacetime character of REC recalls the continuing ideological struggle in which the Communist Bloc sees itself as engaged. This harks back to the discussion, earlier in this book, about the ideological underpinnings of REC. If REC is part of a larger ideological front, then one would naturally expect to see it functioning continuously, not just in wartime.
