ABSTRACT
According to the true thesis of this study, immigrants have contributed to the vitality of the American political system. On this view, ethnic heterogeneity has not threatened America’s democratic order, and since in the United States heterogeneity is largely the consequence of immigration, neither has immigration. By making for individuals who demand little from government yet are highly patriotic, immigration has in fact advanced the cause of American political stability.
