ABSTRACT

On Tuesday, January 1, 1966, the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy (JCAE) began hearings on H. R. 12292; S.2823, the Atomic Energy Commission’s Proposed Authorization Bill for Fiscal Year 1967. 1 Welcoming the Committee members and witnesses, Chairman Holifield said he expected the review of the proposed AEC budget to extend over the next several weeks, and to serve the purpose, “not only of examining in detail the AEC's proposed budget for the next fiscal year, but also (of) inquiring into the progress of the AEC’s programs generally and into government-industry cooperative projects.” 2
