ABSTRACT
Even conscientious parents of young children just entering school, after years of hearing why? what? and how? and not always having successfully made the omniscient impression they would have liked, look forward to the lazy luxury of asking, What did you learn in school today? At an early stage, school is expected to take over, to become the place where “education” takes place. There children are to be socialized into the goods of civilization; there they will learn what they must know.
