ABSTRACT
A broad range of people-to-people exchanges with the Soviet Union has evolved over the past twenty-eight years, some sponsored by the U.S. government, others by private institutions with government funding and, in recent years, by the private sector with private funding. The common denominator in these efforts has been the face-to-face contact and dialogue they have facilitated between U.S. and Soviet citizens in a wide variety of professional fields.
