ABSTRACT
The Metamorphoses of Ovid is, in its way, one of the most remarkable poems ever written. It cannot, perhaps, be ranked among the greatest poems of the world, nor is it even the finest achievement of its author; but it possesses a brilliance of narrative and construction which has always attracted a large number of readers, and has made it a wide and lasting influence in European literature.
