ABSTRACT

Anjali’s students circled around her in the school’s multi-purpose room while she explained the rules of the population ecology simulation, but because they were 7th graders, they fidgeted while she talked. Eventually some even sat down as the direction-giving lasted longer than their patience. Anjali’s cooperating teacher stood to the side for support, nodding along and giving non-verbal behavior reminders to certain students, eventually marching one into the hallway for a private reprimand about being on his phone.
