A common misconception about Guatemala is that it is a small country. Certainly it is small by the standards of the U.S. mainland, but at 42,042 square miles (108,889 square kilometers) it is bigger than the majority of countries in its immediate area and would look very respectable in Europe, for it is about the same size as Greece.
