ABSTRACT
Where marriage and family constitute the social context of childbearing, age at marriage acts as an important cultural constraint on human reproduction. Nevertheless, historical demographers have discovered that cultural limits are broad and the range of fertility experiences great. The following material examines for the first time the natality history of a Chilean community.
