ABSTRACT
Lesotho's extreme dependence on the export of labor has had a massive effect on not only its economy but also its social structure. Much of this impact has been negative. Even if the South African government refrains from implementing the threats it has made to repatriate Basotho migrants, the opportunities for new migration are very few, and it is very likely that eventually the number of migrants will decline. 1 This implies that as population grows, social and economic problems arising from poverty and unemployment will also grow.
