ABSTRACT
Although the Bravo blowout attracted a great deal of attention from the media, an incident that took place in Bergen some six months earlier was quickly forgotten. Early in the morning of October 21, 1976, a group of five terrorists seized control of the drilling platform Deep Sea Driller in the Bergen harbor. Using the crew as hostages, they demanded that three fellow terrorists be released from a Norwegian prison. A special group of antiterrorist police was dispatched from Oslo to Bergen, while the Bergen police sought to negotiate.
