ABSTRACT
Pushtun insurgency within Pakistan, encouraged by Afghanistan, provoked international in 1949 (15.1) and 1950 (15.2). Domestic revolt within Afghanistan spilled into Pakistan in early 1979 (15.3) and led to the Russo-Afghan War (15.4) when the Soviet Union intervened later that year.
