ABSTRACT

An ability to engage in strategic thinking is often attributed to a myth of the “chosen few.” But strategic thinking is indeed learnable. In this chapter, the myth of culture and position is debunked. A combination of five attributes of successful strategic thinkers is presented in its place. Each attribute is described in detail, in addition to a discussion of the interplay of the five attributes. Storytelling is offered as an effective technique for integrating and reinforcing the five attributes.
