ABSTRACT
Cars and the motor industry operate in a highly regulated space. Relevant rules range from permissions as to the use of vehicles to product standards and the more generalised frameworks that apply to the manufacture and sale of any product. Cars and car use have a distinct category of offences applicable to them; the way societies distinguish the misuse of vehicles from other misuses tells us something about the special status of cars and car use.
