ABSTRACT

Pretty much every teacher chose education because they wanted to make a difference, they wanted to matter. All of us can reflect on an educator who we admired when we were a student. We know how we felt about them. We probably knew how everybody else in that class – and that school – felt about them. We chose education because we want to be that person – that teacher. We want to make that kind of a difference every year and every day to the students we teach. You may have seen the t-shirt that says, “I became a teacher because no one ever asks you who your favorite governor is.” Having a significant and lasting impact is one of the many things that makes teachers so special.
