ABSTRACT
The philosophy of mind was one of the most important topics in
British philosophy in the twentieth century, and it shows no signs of
losing its pre-eminent role as we begin the twenty-first. Perhaps one
reason for this is that several things can all appear to be obviously
true about minds which, nonetheless, can’t all be true since they
contradict one another.
