ABSTRACT
H.D. (Hilda Doolittle; United States, 1886–1961) Doolittle was born in Pennsylvania. She attended private school there until she entered Bryn Mawr College in 1904 to study classics. In 1911 she left the home she would later describe to Freud as unhappy and traveled to Europe, eventually joining her friend and mentor EZRA pound and the other poets living in London who would become the Imagists.
