ABSTRACT
Jabès, Edmond (Egypt, 1912-91) Jabes was born in Cairo to a French-speaking Jewish family, and his earliest literary efforts include volumes of conventional French verse composed on Romantic and Cubist models. In 1933 he began a correspondence with MAX JACOB who introduced him to the Parisian literary community of avant-garde writers.
