ABSTRACT
Forces are not readily associated with inanimate things and, if they are, the link is only with 'active' objects like cars and things which can themselves make things move.
Forces are associated with movement and pupils commonly think of a force as a property of something which is moving - a property which 'runs out' when the moving object stops. Pupils tend to think that weight, motion, activity and strength are all part of an object's force.
