Cause The Ashanti kingdom was formed i n the seventeenth century in the region of modern Ghana, steadily expanding during the eighteenth century until it came t o dominat e mos t neighborin g groups , althoug h th e Fam e o f th e coastal regio n cam e under Britis h domination .
