ABSTRACT
Some people talked about “going on,” the idea that as one gets past the first intense pain of grief one has to move forward with life. That does not mean one stops grieving or forgets the person who died, but it does mean that the grief process is, as people talked about it, something that eventually allows room for other thoughts and activities than grieving. And also it may seem that going on with life is what the deceased would have wanted, so going on can be seen as honoring the wishes of the deceased.
