ABSTRACT

One of the main purposes of this book is to look at some of the issues affecting the mental health of non-White ethnic groups. The economic, political, social, and power aspects are examined because of the enormous detrimental effects of racism on these factors. Within each ethnic group, there are also factors that affect non-White populations-intergenerational conflicts, traditional versus modern views, religious schisms, regional and class differences, and so on. It is important that we explore the various populations within the ethnic communities-we can learn from them, what we learn can be used to help them and others.
