This handbook is intended to be a “ready reference” for the most common legal issues and considerations professional face in everyday practice. Part III has been designed to provide you with key points about such issues and considerations. It describes each issue or consideration directly and concisely. Because legal language tends to be rather technical and arcane, we have endeavored to make Part III as user-friendly as possible. To save you the time and effort of looking up specic terms in the Dictionary section of this book, we have included denitions of key terms relevant to each topic right in the discussion of each legal issue or consideration. Clinical applications of each topic are described and guidelines are presented. The following legal issues and considerations are discussed in this section.
