This chapter is all about the ‘how’. How will you get to where you want to be? What could you do to reach the outcome you want? What will you do to position yourself to be in a strong position to make the life you want happen? You will need an understanding of what is required of you from employers and/or course selectors, namely:
Technical experience, knowledge and understanding and skill; this depends on how relevant your degree was to the career you plan to follow. If it is directly relevant, you need to show that you can master the knowledge and research skills required for the role you want. Business acumen, organisation and commercial awareness, plus an understanding of how organisations work. Personal skills, such as leadership, management, the ability to plan your time, etc. – the transferable skills mentioned on page 21. The passionate, go-getting approach to make it happen!
