ABSTRACT

To best serve the counseling clients, administrative supervisors advocate for clients, counseling services and perspectives, their counseling departments and staff members, and for their agencies. Advocacy entails working for "a cause beyond oneself (Glickman, Gordon & Ross-Gordon, 1995). In the American Counseling Association [ACA] Code of Ethics (2005), advocacy is defined as the "promotion of the well-being of individuals and groups and of the counseling profession within systems and organizations.
