ABSTRACT

Like boys and male teens, men with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) exhibit symptoms that result in significant difficulties at home, in the workplace, and with peers. During childhood, symptoms of ADHD fall along two clusters, hyperactivity/impulsivity and inattentiveness/disorganization. Although hyperactivity is likely to diminish with age, impulsivity may remain, and males with ADHD are also likely to exhibit problems with attention and organization abilities. In fact, research has suggested that inattentiveness and disorganization tend to persist (and, in some cases, exacerbate) with age regardless of whether symptoms of impulsivity continue (Barkley, 2006).
