ABSTRACT
As fan is short for fanatic, sports fans have always looked for ways to sustain their sports interests beyond the actual games themselves. This should be obvious from some of the chapters in this volume. Increasingly in recent years, sports fans have attempted to create or recreate interest in their favorite sport, team, and/or player in some format other than reality. This area has become known as fantasy sports.
