ABSTRACT
As we grow increasingly aware of the global interdependence ofpeople and cultures, we confront ever shifting cultural, ecological,economic, and technological realities that define the shrinking world of the twenty-first century. The development of new ways of living in the world together is pivotal to further human progress; we must learn how to see things through the eyes of others and add their knowledge to our personal repertoires. Such a global mind-set can result only from competent communication among peoples form diverse cultures.
