ABSTRACT
Horror had come into its own very quickly, and a multitude of fi lmmakers happily jumped on the horror bandwagon, either specializing in horror or diversifying their portfolios by adding horror fi lms to their oeuvre. This exploding interest in the genre soon meant that a horror fi lm glut was at hand, and audiences who once lined up to get a taste of horror began to bend under the (often crude and formulaic) oversupply; in response audiences turned scarce.
