ABSTRACT
A discussion of the language rrlyth froln different points of view in the year 2000 should be orientated towards a double goal: first, an analytic goal, in which we reflect on the scientific situation in linguistics left after more than two n1illennia of traditional and orthodox linguistic thinking; second, a constructive goal, in which we make proposals for overcorning the 'language myth' which can function as guidelines for the new millennium. My proposal will be a conception of linguistics as a human science which contradicts the view of linguistics as a natural science.
